Building momentum

It has been exciting to see God work as He gathers his people for this new church. Not a week has gone by where we haven’t had a new person, a visitor or an enquirer looking to find out what we are doing and how they can be a part of it. It has also been exciting to have the chance to meet with a few people who are investigating Christianity.

So far at church we have had one wedding, one member in hospital for a week, one week without music, three guest preachers and many meals & coffees together. The community groups continue to grow, especially the women’s group that meets on Wednesday morning.

In December we will be farewelling some of our friends who came from Australia to help us get off the ground. They have served us in many ways by teaching Sunday School, organising music, being part of community groups and just generally being enthusiastic and getting involved. They will both leave big shoes to fill and we’d love to have another wave of servants come along in their place. Next year we will be joined by a family from the UK and a newly married couple from Christchurch. It will be great to have more hands on deck as we gear up towards our public launch.

It has become apparent that our living room is not going to be able to contain us for much longer. Soon we will have to move into another part of the house as we continue to grow.

At the moment we are working towards launching around March 2015. By that time we hope to have 35-40 people regularly turning up each Sunday. The shift from house church to a public meeting will dramatically increase the amount of work that will go into each Sunday service but it will enable us to grow as we throw open the doors and welcome the city.

There are a few key things that need to be worked out before we can launch in March. We need to finalise a time, find a venue to meet, purchase AV equipment, marketing, update the website, develop welcoming and follow-up structures and the list goes on.

It would be great if you could be praying for our church as we look to transition. Pray God will provide all our needs as he has done in the past.
